Position Summary:

As a barback, you will serve as a bartender’s assistant, working behind the bar and stocking, handling food preparation, providing customer service. Cleaning is a major duty of this position.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ensures the bar is well stocked; gets ice for the ice bin; restocks the bar with pop, beer, liquor, wine, juices, and glassware; rotates all products.
  2. Checks the draught beers to make sure they’re working and estimates amount left in each keg. Changes kegs as needed.
  3. Makes sure all trash cans and towels are ready. Bar must be clean before opening and clean during regular business.
  4. Prepares fruit garnishes such as wedges and twists of lime, lemon, orange, cherries, straws, garnish picks. Keeps garnish trays full. May need to prepare frequently or back stock as required. Organizes items in garnish trays.
  5. Empties trash cans as needed; collects empty glasses and wash them at CG Hooks kitchen. Wipes the bar tops inside and outside bars constantly, restocking bar items as needed; removes trash from the establishment.

  7. Barbacks are not expected to mix drinks but may take drink and food orders for the bartender. They may be asked to deliver drinks or retrieve customer food from the kitchen.

Position Summary:

In this role, you will provide a positive experience at Tally’s Dockside and demonstrate enthusiasm for working with the vacationing public. You will interact with patrons in person and by phone in a professional manner regarding boat rental and other dockside services and are responsible for keeping the premises clean and organized.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Responsible for the daily reservation book and daily rentals for canoes, fishing boats, pontoons, kayaks and paddle boards.
  2. Takes reservations on the phone or in person; checks in reservations and fills out the appropriate forms and collects the deposit and licenses; directs the customer to the appropriate boat location.
  3. Assists the customers with fishing licenses, selling of bait and tackle, food or drink requests.
  4. Handles return reservations and check out procedures. Calculates rental payment – handles cash and credit card payments.

The Cook and Pit Master is the leader in the kitchen. You will be responsible for overall operation for the restaurant and make sure that the company is represented correctly and that the company’s standards are upheld.

  1. Responsible for all daily food preparation and daily smoking in the kitchen; cooks and smokes food and leads a team of kitchen workers.

Position Summary:

In the busy world of fine dining restaurants, there is the front of house: the servers and waitstaff, and the back of house: the cooks and chefs. In between these two groups is the expediter. You will communicate orders and information between the front of house and back of house, making sure that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer as beautifully as possible.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Functions as the communications link between and among the various food production areas in the kitchen.
  2. Coordinates production and assembly so servers can deliver meal orders to dining room patrons in a timely manner.
  3. Makes sure the orders are being cooked in a timely fashion, so that all orders for a table are ready at the same time and make sure that once the food is cooked, servers run food to the table while it’s warm and ready.

Position Summary:

Acting as the initial point of contact for guests, you will greet customers at a designated point either at Tally’s Dockside deck, CG Hooks Whitaker Door, or both. You will help maintain an organized and efficient dining room and will assist other restaurant staff as necessary to fulfill this objective.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Greets guests and assigns them to tables. Manages a waiting list and seating chart. Monitors table rotation for a fair and balanced number of patrons according to the server’s skill level and current workload.

Line and short order cooks play an important role, not just in the kitchen, but in the entire operation at Tally’s Dockside and C.G. Hooks. You will work on a team to prepare fresh and delicious food for our patrons and create a safe and sanitary work environment. During slower periods, our cooks also assist with greeting and serving our patrons.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assists in the preparation of meals; sets up the line for efficient flow; adheres to recipe book standards, complies with established portion sizes, and wraps meat for presentation.
  2. Properly stores perishable items; maintains inventory of line items; grills, bakes and plates entrees; ensures the visual accuracy of plate presentation and that the line area is clean and orderly throughout a shift.
  3. Prepares multiple orders at once and gets them out as fast as possible.
  4. Uses grills, microwaves, and other industrial cooking apparatus; measures and weighs ingredients; monitors food for freshness and safety; maintains a clean kitchen and stores ingredients properly.
  5. Responsible for maintaining a sanitary kitchen work station. Additional responsibilities include wrapping and storing perishable items, and cleaning and sanitizing the pantry area throughout a shift.
  6. During slower periods, responsible for providing quick and efficient service to customers; greets customers, takes their food and beverage orders, rings orders into register, and prepares and serves hot and cold drinks; collects payments from guests and makes change.
  7. Assembles food and beverage orders, checks them for completeness and accuracy, and packages orders for on-premise or takeout.
  8. Maintains cleanliness of counters and floors.

Position Summary:

As a Night Security Guard, you will serve an important role in the safety and security of our workplace. You will monitor the premises with an understanding of applicable laws and our policies and apply them in a consistent and thorough manner. You must be comfortable working alone and independently and handle confrontation and the use of force appropriately.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Patrols commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of docks, boats, and building’s doors and windows.
  2. Protects property by patrolling the area.
  3. Answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
  4. Monitors and authorizes night activity, entrance and departure of employees, boat slip customers, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.

Position Summary:

As a Shift Leader/Captain, you will work with and oversee the staff when the manager is not on duty as well as take responsibility for other assigned daily duties (bartender, line cook, rental clerk, Pitmaster, Host/ess, expediter, etc.) Shift leaders act as quality control, ensuring customer satisfaction through training employees properly and adhering to company policy.

Shift leaders report directly to management.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Directs other employees through their daily routines and interacts with customers to make sure that they have a satisfactory experience.
  2. Ensures employees perform a variety of tasks, from pumping gas, boat renting, boat cleaning and preparation, preparing the food, stocking supplies, serving, charging people for their food, handling cash, credit cards, and a cash register, cleaning tables and counters, resetting tables, greeting customers and answering questions.
  3. Oversees operations during certain shifts, responsible for monitoring cash handling.

Summer Camp Fishing Guide and Boat Driver

Position Summary:

As a Summer Camp Fishing Guide, you will lead small groups of children on recreational fishing outing activities. Our fishing guides should have a high interest in fishing and can specialize in their own area of interest with fishing and boat driving.

The camps will last 2 hours with the possibility of two camps per day. The camps are held in the mornings Monday – Thursday with a make-up day if needed on Fridays. They are administered in June and July.

Position Duties / Essential Job Functions:

  1. Maintains familiarity with White Bear Lake and knows the habits of the wildlife in that area.
  2. Drives and maneuvers the pontoon in and around White Bear Lake and locates good fishing locations.
  3. Helps campers with their gear, baiting, and removal of fish as needed.
  4. Responsible for the safety of the group.
  5. Requires knowledge of how to administer first aid and is prepared to handle emergencies.
  6. Follows good conservation practices and fishing and boating rules and regulations.
  7. Pitches in at the end of the day with boat cleanup, putting gas in the motors, repairing damaged equipment, and putting tackle and gear away.

Qualifications:

  • Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR card
  • Current State of Minnesota fishing license
  • Guiding experience preferred with a sound working knowledge of fishing, fishing terminal tackle, angling methods, techniques and skills
  • Experience working with or teaching children preferred
  • Proficiency with fishing and latest angling techniques and proven familiarity with White Bear Lake and its surroundings
